Sporting Kansas City opens the season at home Saturday night

Sporting Kansas City plays its first home game of the 2016 season against the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday March 12, at Children’s Mercy Park (1 Sporting Way, Kansas City, Kansas). SKC opened the season with a 1-0 victory over the Seattle Sounders. Newly signed defender Nuno Andre Coelho gave SKC the edge with a long-range shot that skipped past Seattle’s goalkeeper on a rain-drenched field. Meanwhile, SKC’s defense held a dangerous Seattle offense, led by U.S. Men’s Soccer star Clint Dempsey, at bay. SKC and the Whitecaps are two of the more exciting and aggressive teams in Major League Soccer, so look for a compelling matchup. Kickoff is at 7:30.
