Spicy Crafts

The holiday crafts market happening this weekend at 1331 Union has the word “alternative” in its name for a good reason. “There will be no crocheted potholders,” organizer Laurenn McCubbin promises. “But there will be a potholder that says ‘Love your pussy.'” Also for sale at the Art Tarts Alternative Xmas Crafts Fair: saucy, handmade greeting cards, lingerie and ornaments that McCubbin says “might be found on the naughtier tree.” The XXXmas tree? Doors to the market open today at 5 p.m. Admission costs $8 and includes a 6 p.m. burlesque show with local talents Etta Vendetta and Annie Cherry plus San Francisco talents Mariel a la Mode and Uni and her ukelele. Admission is free on Saturday, when the fair runs from noon to 6 p.m. and features a fashion show by Birdie’s. For more information, see myspace.com/art tartscraftsfair.
