“Sound Minds Day” returns to 90.9 The Bridge on May 15
90.9 The Bridge’s Sound Minds Day will return to the airwaves on May 15.
The annual special, held every May to commemorate Mental Health Awareness Month, features an entire day’s worth of songs requested by community members—specifically, music that has gotten them through difficult periods.
Sound Minds Day also features special guests, including local musicians and health professionals, interviewed by host Michelle Bacon about topics such as the mental health-related difficulties faced by artists. Bacon will also share stories submitted by community members about why their chosen songs are important to them.
The special is held in partnership with Johnson County Mental Health Center and Zero Reasons Why, a mobilization campaign aimed at removing the stigma around mental health and preventing teen suicide.
To request a song and share your own story, you can email soundminds@bridge909.org or fill out a request form on the station’s website.
