So Pretty

Not to get all bigheaded about it, but a lot of cities around the country aren’t as pretty as Kansas City. Thanks to the Kansas City Art Institute, the town is more or less crawling with art-school grads, which goes a long way toward explaining why KC is so aesthetically pleasing. Kansas City’s sizable artistic brain trust also provides a talent pool for small local art spaces, including the 2631 Gallery (2631 Holmes, 816-777-6838), which presents Young Turks: Recent Graduates of the Kansas City Art Institute, an exhibition of work by graduates from the past five years. Printmaker Dane Bonner, painter Nathan
Davies, painter Heather Lamanno, multimedia artist Daniel Lough and designer Thomas Woodward are on hand from
5 to 10 p.m. for the opening. For information, see 2631gallery.com.— Chris Packham
