Back in November 2009, the Kansas Highway Patrol stopped 69-year-old John C. McCollum in a Budget Rental truck that was towing a Ford F-160 pickup along Interstate 70 in Wabaunsee County. McCollum told the trooper that he was driving from his home city of San Francisco, California, to the state of South Carolina.
