Smoked Beats and Meats

On March 2, 2011, NORML — the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws — celebrated the 40th anniversary of its inception. Founder Keith Stroup said, “We are now approaching the tipping point with this issue in America. In the end, we are only incidentally talking about marijuana — we are really talking about personal freedom.” Join the Johnson County branch of NORML for its first annual fundraiser BBQ and hear music from the Somebodies, Armthepoor, Harmony Lovell and I am Nation while partaking in hacky sack, hula-hooping, phat frisbee action and general chillin’. Always family-friendly, JoCo NORML will provide $3 hamburgers and $1 hot dogs at this admission-free event at Shawnee Mission Park, shelter #4, overlooking the marina. Pets are allowed, but alcohol is not (Sorry, y’all – Johnson County Code of Regulations for the Park and Recreation District, Article 2, Section 1.2.1). Festivities go from 3 until 10 p.m.
