Smoke This Now: CODES is delivering bud with a bang for Missouri consumers’ buck
Purchasing cannabis from the dispensary can be a bit pricey, especially with the current tax situation in the state. Cannabis company CODES is there for consumers who are looking to get a good bang for their buck.
With products that are usually priced below what some may consider the standard for an eighth, pre-roll, etc., (which does differ between dispensary locations) the company offers a slightly cheaper avenue to individuals who may not have the means to purchase legal cannabis, yet still find the alternative relief necessary.
CODES’s products can be found throughout the state in different dispensaries, as well as their own local dispensaries in Raymore and South KC (Red Bridge area) that just recently opened earlier this year.
The Pitch recently had the chance to sample a few of CODES’s products. They might not be the highest-quality cannabis in the state, but they do the trick for a reasonable bargain.
CODES Infused Pre-Roll Pack, Melon x Pez Sours, Xtreme J’s, Three Pack:
Consumers get just what they expect when popping open CODES’s Melon x Pez Sours Xtreme J’s three-pack of infused pre-rolls: three joints covered in keef and infused with botanically derived terpenes. The joints were rolled well, creating a very nice slow burn that did not run. The flavor profile is definitely more of a tropical sensation.
With .7g THC in each joint, it is about the perfect amount for those with a slightly higher tolerance. The head high kicks in pretty quickly, but does not necessarily last as long as some may hope, making it more fit for a single person.
CODES Purple Burst x Bucca Cake Vape Cartridge:
This Purple Burst x Bucca Cake vape cartridge from CODES is pretty standard for vape cartridges in the state. In comparison to some others I have used, it had a pretty smooth inhale and exhale, which can be hard to come by with many distillate carts. It had more of an earthy, herby tone to it that most distillate cartridges carry, but nothing off-putting. Throughout its use, the CODES product never leaked and hardly clogged, which are issues that many run into with different products in the state.
CODES Xtreme Gummies, Melon, 1000mg THC, Five Pack:
CODES’s 1000mg THC package of edibles is not for the faint-hearted. With only five pieces in the package, each gummy holds 200mg THC. Nevertheless, CODES, like many other edible brands, knows that much THC is not something the average consumer could indulge in and enjoy their experience. So, they have created slits within each gummy that allow the consumer to cut off just the right amount to meet their needs.
Biting into this gummy, I noticed that it has more of a sugar factor than sour, and I personally got more of a lemon, lime taste, rather than melon. Personally, I munched down an entire one of these THC-packed gummies on the night of the NHL Four Nations Championship between Canada and U.S.A. hockey. As the periods flew by, in set the high. By the time the third period rolled around, I was in a challenge against myself to remain conscious for the remainder of the match. It was a hard-fought battle, but I made it through. The rest of the package was consumed in smaller increments, which made for much steadier highs and no couch lock.
CODES 816 Flower, 3.5g:
One of the more eccentric aspects of CODES is that the brand attempts to establish a sense of community through its products. For example, there are different strains named as area codes of cities within the state; 816 being one of them.
Opening up CODES’s 816 eighth, strong scents of espresso are prominent. A crossing of OG Kush and Master Kush, this strain packs a solid punch, with about 23% THC and 3% terpenes. While the flower was slightly dry, each joint I smoked burned well, with a spicy, coffee kick and a grayish, white ash that began to grow a bit harsher toward the end of each roll. Nonetheless, this eighth compared well to other flower I have consumed for around the same price. An indica-dominant strain, the 816 had me feeling smooth and steady without placing me in an incoherent state where I was forced to remain dormant. I would recommend consuming this flower in the evening, knowing that you can still bounce back and get that extra work, studying, or project done after about an hour.
