Smells Like Delicious

We can’t live on bacon alone, but there might not be a more delicious, if ill-conceived, diet. Get on the treadmill now because the first annual Bacon-Fest hits the West Bottoms today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Make this pork pilgrimage and you’ll have the chance to have all the bacon you eat recognized via a competitive eating challenge. Sip a bacon bloody mary while learning about the genesis of Bacon Explosion from the creators themselves. Later in the day, experimental hip-hop duo Bacon Shoe hits the stage after the judging of the best bacon recipes. There’s also an event T-shirt — rest assured, it will prominently feature bacon. Bacon-Fest, a 21-and-older event, is a fundraiser for the Rehabilitation Institute, which provides disabled children and adults with support services. It will be held at the Foundation for Reclamation (1221 Union Avenue). See tribaconfest.kintera.org to snag more information or tickets, which cost $30.
