Sly James is Kansas City’s next mayor

The Mark Funkhouser era is officially over, and Kansas City’s next mayor is attorney Sly James.

James defeated former Kansas City councilman Mike Burke with a 54 percent to 46 percent margin. This ends a positive race run by James and Burke, which sounds good on the outside but left the candidates nearly indistinguishable to voters.
