Sluggerrr’s wiener accident: Read the lawsuit

A man named John Coomer is suing the Kansas City Royals after the team’s mascot, Sluggerrr, allegedly poked his eye out with an errant hot dog toss.

Here are a few more details of what Coomer claims happened at a game on September 8, 2009.

Sluggerrr was allegedly on top of the third base dugout firing hot dogs into the stands with his air gun. The giant yellow lion put down his air gun and then started chucking his wieners into the  stands by hand. “While doing so, Slugger [sic] attempted to throw a hotdog into the stands with a throw behind his back. Instead of throwing the hotdog at an arch high into the stands, Slugger lost control of his throw, or was reckless with his throw, and threw the hotdog directly into Plaintiff, who was sitting a few feet away.”

The wiener allegedly smacked Coomer in his left eye, leaving him with “a detached retina in the left eye and the development of cataracts in his left eye.” Coomers claims that he has had two surgeries and wants $25,000 to cover the damages.
