SKY Syndicate brings streetball to Penn Valley

Even as they warmed up, bouncing to the Lil’ Wayne blaring from the speakers and draining three-pointers from six feet beyond the arc, players from the nationally touring SKY Streetball Syndicate put on a show Sunday night at Penn Valley Community College.

SKY’s High Rizer

There were animal dunks from Mr. 720 — the kind of acrobatics that made spectators lean back in their seats, laughing and grabbing their friends with holy-shit-did-you-fucking-see-that glee. There was good-natured trash talk from SKY’s announcer Joe Pope, who taunted the Kansas City team (“You can’t dunk in dress socks, man!”) and gave them nicknames like “Chauncey Billups on Steroids” and “Fire Marshal Phil.”

The SKY team had more points on the scoreboard at the end of 40 minutes but both teams set off some fireworks. Click here for a slideshow.
