Simon Angilda, rapist, thinks 85 years is too stiff a sentence for raping a 92-year-old woman

Angilda was convicted in January of raping a 92-year-old Leawood woman while drunk and high on Ecstasy. The rape occurred last June, and the conviction could end up with Angilda getting an 85-year prison sentence.
Angilda’s defense attorney is arguing that 85 years would be cruel and unusual punishment, according to the Star. “He’s 22,” Angilda’s attorney Carol Cline reportedly told the court. “If there were no sentencing enhancements he’s probably going to be in his 60s when he gets out. The upward departure (in sentence) means he never gets out.” Uh, good.
