Simon Angilda, convicted of raping 92-year-old woman, looking at 85-year sentence

Simon Angilda claimed that he was drunk and high on Ecstasy when he raped a 92-year-old Leawood woman last June. That’s what The Kansas City Star reported, and it sounds like a cover story (and not a very good one).

Jurors saw through it and convicted the 21-year-old of 14 counts of criminal activity — including rape, aggravated criminal sodomy, home invasion and aggravated robbery — and recommended an 85-year sentence (because they couldn’t recommend ripping his genitals off and feeding them to rats, a la Johnny Rock).
