Show Some Skin

Blame it on fear of malignant melanomas and the resurgence of modesty, but this summer’s swimsuit collections generally emphasize coverage. Unfortunately, some sun worshippers will not be satisfied with low leg cuts, tankinis and removable soft cups. For those who have already scheduled their bikini and back waxes and enjoy their time soaking up healthy UVB rays, it’s time to check out the hottest in monokinis, electric colors and bandeau tops. Summer Splash, the Second Rock ‘n’ Fashion Show produced by the Creative Talent Agency, kicks off at 9 p.m. at Crosstown Station (1522 McGee). Hosted by Ron Mayer, KC’s The Bachelorette contestant and owner of Sole Patch Barbershop, the show features local designers Christian Micheal, Cali Roberta, Nathaniel Renewal, Envolve and others. With musical help from soul-pop band the P Lentz Project and the booty-shakin’ Browntown, attendees can navigate the hottest trends to floss at Oceans of Fun or in the backyard on a lawn chair. Doors open at 8 p.m., and tickets cost $15.
