Shish kebabs and Souvlaki

Learn how to say, in Greek, “More baklava, please.” The 49th annual Greek Food Festival opens from 6 to 10 p.m. Load your plate with such traditional Greek specialties as gyros and spanakopita, then pick up some new moves from folk dancers. Get a glimpse of KC Wizards soccer player Nikos Kounenakis, former team captain for the OFI Crete team in Greece. The festival takes place at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation (12001 Wornall), which stays open for tours. Children’s activities include games and a moonwalk. Parking and admission are free, but the event is a drop-off point for donations to Harvesters Community Food Network. The festival continues noon-10 p.m. Saturday and noon-6 p.m. Sunday.
