Sheriff’s deputy Kelly Barks shoots and kills ‘growling’ Chihuahua

I’ve been bitten by a Chihuahua. It doesn’t hurt. But for a now-former

Southeast Missouri sheriff’s deputy, a bite was enough to shoot the dog

— three times — and kill it while it was wounded and hiding in its kennel.

Kelly Barks (for real, that’s her name) resigned in March after being placed on administrative leave due to the February incident. Barks, responding to a domestic-violence call, arrested a man at the scene. When she searched the man’s residence, she encountered three growling dogs — and she decided to put a few bullets in one of ’em.
