Shen Yun Dance Fun

Inspired by the culture, spirituality and artistic tradition of one of the world’s oldest civilizations, the Shen Yun Performing Arts troupe isn’t exaggerating when its says its show has been 5,000 years in the making. Founded in New York City in 2006, the troupe has worked to revive the honor, wisdom and sincerity of Chinese culture, which was largely undermined by the Cultural Revolution and more than 60 years of Communist rule. Utilizing colorful, handmade costumes from various dynasties, scenic, high-tech backdrops and ancient instruments, award-winning singers, musicians and dancers tell stories and share legends while bringing to life the country’s rich history. The troupe is in town one night only for a performance at the Kansas City Convention Center (310 West 13th Street) at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices range from $60 to $150, get them on kc-show.com or by calling 816-513-5074.
