Shania Twain

If authentic, down-home, grits-‘n’-gravy country is your cup of tea, then you might as well stop reading right now. But if you like your strum and twang served with enough spectacle to make Kiss look like a bunch of dudes jamming at Davey’s, then Shania Twain is your gal. Armed with a hefty catalog of easy-to-digest smashes and a body that could bring peace to the Middle East, Shania (who now breathes the rarefied air of the unimoniker set) never hits the road without a Vegas-sized production on hand. Granted, these days big country is about as hip as, well, Big Country, but it wouldn’t be a Shania show without a few thousand costume changes. After moving 36 million copies of her 1997 opus Come on Over, the Canadian siren stepped out of the limelight to spend time with superproducer hubby Mutt Lange. A year ago, the pair returned with Up!, an album that contained electropop and country versions of each song. Approximately 35.5 million Shania fans were duly freaked out and alienated. Up! hasn’t been certified anything but weird, so it should be entertaining to watch the superstar work her boot-scootin’ booty off to win back the faithful at Kemper.
