Shake It to the Left

Mention a show at a “radical” bookstore, and certain members of the comic-book-reading demographic might think you’re speaking in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle-ese about a really awesome Barnes & Noble. Older people might be intimidated by the word’s left-leaning political connotations.Tonight, forget semantics and get hip to the acoustic indie rock of Eddy Burke at the Crossroads Infoshop and Radical Bookstore (3109 Troost). Burke comes from Minneapolis, where critics have described his musicianship as nimble and his stage presence as mesmerizing. He describes himself on his MySpace page as “the Willy Wonka of red meat.” Radical. The all-ages show begins at 7 p.m. with two local openers, including the Blessed Broke. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged. For more information, call 913-940-7426 or see crossroadskc.org.
