Setting is Everything

Perhaps more than any other art form, live theater relies on an audience’s immersion, attention and collective experience. One Time Productions is totally aware of this, so it chooses venues to reflect theatrical content. Example: a Sam Shepard play performed in an Airstream trailer. That’s super-duper cool, but we’re curious to see how One Time fulfills its mission with its latest production: Arts or Crafts, a collection of original scenes with characters ranging from cavemen to rappers. Arts or Crafts has its Kansas City premiere at the H&R Block Artspace (16 East 43rd Street, 816-561-5563) tonight at 7:30. Artspace is, you know, an art space and not a cave or a recording studio or a recording studio inside a cave. Tickets cost $15 ($7 for students).
