Season’s Teasings

Bloated with roasted fowl, green-bean casserole and pies made from gourds, you’re looking for a holiday-weekend social engagement where you can flaunt the amazing circumference of your new Butterball baby — ooh, she’s kicking, obviously excited about tonight’s performance by the Kansas City Society of Burlesque at the venerable old Granada (1020 Massachusetts, Lawrence, 785-842-1390). The Naughty
November Variety Show includes performances by Annie Cherry, Daisy Buckët, Violet Vendetta and other bestockinged local favorites, a special guest appearance by Sweet Louise of Bee’s Knees Burlesque and a performance by the gravity-defying aerial acrobatics troupe Voler–Thieves of Flight. Some doctors argue against stripteases and theatrical excitement during pumpkin-pie pregnancies, but they’ve been prohibiting fun since the Puritans started buckling on their hats. Tickets cost $7 at the door. Due to the stimulating nature of this 10 p.m. program, children and persons under the age of 21 will not be admitted.
