Scary Theory
Developer Larry Sells likes to say that when he assumed the burden of a decrepit Uptown Theater (3700 Broadway, 816-753-8665), he wasn’t simply trying to make a buck. His revitalization of the building has also involved his political outlook, which is dominated by green-living issues and conspiracy theories. Today, a kindred spirit to Sells appears at the Uptown: Richard Gage, founder of Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth. The association suggests that the pattern of destruction on the towers is consistent with a controlled demolition; in other words, the U.S. government blew up the World Trade Center. If you think Gage is out of his mind, you’re not the only one; blogosphere detractors and debunkers refer to him as a “charlatan” and a “pompous ass.” Decide for yourself when Gage delivers the lecture “Blueprint for Truth: The Architecture of Destruction” at 4 p.m. today in the Uptown’s Valentine Room. Admission costs $10.
