Sans Apathy

This year, the American Civil Liberties Union of Kansas and Western Missouri celebrates its 50th anniversary. In an attempt to get folks energized and involved in their communities, the ACLU partners with Kansas City Anti-Violence Project, Kansas Equality Coalition and Promo for Get Active! Meet Your Leaders at Crosstown Station (1522 McGee, 816-471-1522). Special guest speakers include Wyandotte County District Court Judge Kate Lynch and former Manhattan, Kansas, City Commissioner Jayme Morris-Hardeman. “We are hoping to build upon the energy from last weekend’s Pride Festival and introduce people to the many organizations on our task force while encouraging people to volunteer,” says programs communications coordinator, Sarah Beasley.
