Samuel L. Moore, man wanted in KU gunman hoax, surrenders to police

Update (7:48 a.m. May 4):Samuel L. Moore, the man who claimed he fought off a gunman in McCollum Hall dorms at the University of Kansas, was charged with two felony counts of obstructing the legal process and one count of criminal trespass in Douglas County Court on Monday.

KU police say Moore, 20, and a KU student made up the story after a domestic disturbance. KSHB Channel 41 reports that a judge set Moore’s bond at $15,000 and ordered him not to return to the KU campus — if he bonds out.

University of Kansas police were searching for a gunman in McCollum Hall Friday afternoon. But the report ended up being a hoax, made up by a couple involved in a domestic dispute. 

On Sunday, Samuel Lennell Moore, the 20-year-old man accused of lying to police, surrendered to University of Kansas police.
