Sam Brownback called an oinker by spending watchdog

The day after warning that reckless fiscal policy was pumping air into a “government bubble,” U.S. Sen. Sam Brownback of Kansas received an Oinker Award from a watchdog group that tracks politicians’ pet projects.

Citizens Against Government Waste recognized Brownback and fellow Kansas Republicans Pat Roberts and Todd Tiahrt for procuring $3.5 million for the National Institute for Aviation Research. The citizens’ group notes that institute’s clients are aerospace companies, “who should have paid for this program.”
