Ryshod Mercer, handcuffed inmate wearing a cast, escapes from police

The odds of Ryshod Mercer escaping from police, not good. The 34-year-old was handcuffed and had soft casts on his arm and legs. He was riding in a police car going about 20 mph, on his way to the Jackson County jail on Thursday, when he somehow escaped near Truman Road and Denver Avenue.
KMBC Channel 9 reports that authorities are starting to wonder if Mercer faked his injuries. You think?
Sugar Creek Sgt. Christopher Soule told KMBC the obvious: He’s embarrassed that Mercer got away from him.
