Russ Johnson shows off his hot legs (and mandals), pedals 13 miles to downtown

I knew today was going to be a great day when I saw City Councilman Russ “Hot Legs” Johnson wearing bike shorts and mandals on the morning news … and I knew I had to get a photo.

To kickoff Bike Week, Johnson pedaled the 13 miles from his 2nd District home to the Power & Light District. Thirteen miles is quite a haul to downtown, and I figured  Johnson was probably a little sweaty from the ride, so I asked him if there was a shower at City Hall for him to clean up. Nope. No shower. There isn’t money in the budget. Instead, they’re paying for sprinklers and fire safety stuff. So I wouldn’t want to be sitting next to Johnson at a council session.

But I wasn’t the only one who took notice of Johnson’s hot legs.

“I would have worn my shorts today,” said Councilwoman Cindy Circo, “but Russ’ legs are better looking than mine, and I didn’t want to be embarrassed.”
