Royals vs Orioles Tickets Available For 52% Below Season Average

Only a half a game separates the Baltimore Orioles from the Kansas City Royals. In the AL East that half game is good for first place in the division, while the Royals are 5.5 games back of the Detroit Tigers in the AL Central. Now the two face off in a four game weekend series with the Orioles next up on the Royals schedule  Royals tickets are only averaging $33.50 for the series, down 52 percent from the season average of $70.18 at Kauffman Stadium.

5/15 BAL Wei-Yin Chen vs. KC Yordano Ventura | Avg. Price: $21 | Get-in Price: $3

Yordano Ventura has improved in every category to start his first full season with the Royals. It’ll also be the cheapest game of the series. Tickets are only averaging $21 for the game. Ventura leads the Royals staff with a 2.34 ERA, and while his FIP of 3.39 likely means that number should increase, he’s still pitching well. He’s seen a big improvement in strikeouts, averaging over nine per nine innings, and is giving up less than a home run per nine. The get-in price is a low $3 to see him pitch

5/16 BAL Chris Tillman vs. KC Jeremy Guthrie | Avg. Price: $45 | Get-in Price: $12

The Orioles haven’t seen the same improvement by Jeremy Guthrie. His ERA of 4.80 is the highest since 2009 for the righty, with his big problem a HR/9 that’s climbed to 1.95. He’s probably not the reason this game is the most expensive of the series with an average of $45. Instead it’s probably the fireworks show the team has scheduled. It’ll cost $12 to get in to see the game and the fireworks.

5/17 BAL Bud Norris vs. KC Danny Duffy | Avg. Price: $37 | Get-in Price: $9

Danny Duffy has made two starts in May after starting April in the bullpen. The results have been real encouraging. After posting a 1.85 ERA in five starts last season, Duffy has a 1.96 ERA in 18.1 innings this season. Tickets are only seeing a small drop for this game with an average price of $37 and a get-in price of $9. To be worth the price of admission Duffy is going to need to cut down on a BB% of 13% because his BABIP of .191 isn’t going to last much longer.

5/18 BAL Ubaldo Jimenez vs. KC James Shields | Avg. Price: 31 | Get-in Price: $5

Last season this would’ve been a battle of the aces, but while James Shields has held up his end of the bargain, Jimenez has struggled. After signing a with the Orioles in free agency, Jimenez has seen a dip in his strikeout numbers – down to 20.2% from 25% – and a rise in walks. But Shields is in the middle of the best season of his career, and the get-in price is just $5. The average price is $31, less than half the average price for Royals tickets.
