Royals fans should thank Jeff Foxworthy for Jonathan Broxton coming to Kansas City

What could possibly coerce relief pitcher Jonathan Broxton, who had spent his entire career hurling for the Los Angeles Dodgers and reportedly had interest in other winning teams including the Texas Rangers, to sign with the Royals? Could it be the blue chip youngsters coming through the minor league system? The fact that The K will host the 2012 All-Star Game? Or that with one All-Star Game appearance and playoff experience, he instantly becomes a leader on the squad? No, it was none of these. Rather, what pushed Broxton to sign with Kansas City was a trip to Jeff Foxworthy’s farm.
The New York Post reports that Royals right fielder Jeff Francoeur and manager Ned Yost took Broxton on a bow hunting trip at the Foxworthy Farm, a 40,000-acre estate in Georgia owned by the ginger purveyor of redneck jokes. While on the trip, they convinced the pitcher to sign with the club.
