Rocker Wear

According to some couture theories, models should be skeletal and husk-light to function like clothing hangers: inconspicuous, unobtrusive and devoid of personality. The result is a little like a floral still life — beautiful but boring. Designer Halliday Bertram doesn’t cave to such exquisite monotony. She chooses models with personality from almost every possible demographic, including one very conspicuous local scenester. Beautiful Bodies howler Alicia Solombrino — she of the chaotic bouffant and kohl eyes — sometimes wears Bertram’s seamstressing onstage. Like a Stevie Nicks song, the outfits rock a little but have enough pinched waists and sugary frills to be feminine. During the recent KC Fashion Week, Bertram’s designs took on a polished, dandyish flair. See the designer’s latest at the Take a Halliday Fashion Show tonight at the Brick (1728 McGee). Beautiful Bodies and Super Black Market will also perform.
