Rock Poet

Charly “the City Mouse” Fasano is a man with a baritone that belies his rodent appellation. The poet and storyteller, originally from Denver and now based in Chicago, draws inspiration from his experiences touring with rock bands, failing in relationships and being lost in familiar places. His Snitches Get Stitches, for example, collects poems about traveling with a country band. He has made his mark in Colorado and abroad by reading his work at rock shows and on any stage that will have him, opening up for the likes of the Queers and Lucero. Fasano’s most recent enterprise is Fast Geek Reader, a slim volume that mixes poetry and prose from such folks as Karl Alvarez (All, the Descendents) and Nathen Maxwell (Flogging Molly). Hear him read aloud at 7 tonight at Prospero’s Books (1800 West 39th Street, 816-531-9673). Admission is a suggested $2 donation.
