Robber steals money, kiss from Mexican grocery store

A switchblade-wielding man robbed a Mexican grocery store’s register and then stole a kiss from the clerk Wednesday night.

Overland Park police say a Hispanic male in his mid-20s robbed the Las Comadres Mexican Grocery

Store, 7800 Shawnee Mission Parkway, around 6:18 p.m. They say a 24-year-old female clerk was stocking shelves when the man grabbed

her and hugged her but not in a friendly way. The man put a switchblade to the clerk’s throat, and then took the cash from the register. But then he kissed the clerk near her

lips and ran off.

Police say the suspect is about 5-foot-4-inches tall and weighs 125 pounds. His hair is short and black. He’s clean shaven. His complexion is light. At the time of the robbery, the man wore a white collared shirt with “sky blue and red vertical stripes” and blue jeans. The man spoke Spanish.
