Reppin’ KC in the Wiki-P, at Mercy Seat

This entry contains appended information at the end.

My ever-vigilant editor, Eric, discovered today that Miles Bonny, hip-hop producer, DJ and jazz trumpeter, stands among giants on Wikipedia’s list of People from Kansas City. Unlike those suckers like Charlie Parker and Pat Matheny, who had to move and/or die to get on Wikipedia, Miles just put on his shades one morning, made a beat on the 808, and *poof* … the entry wrote itself. That’s my theory, anyway. Visit Miles’ page and add in facts about his mustache, like that it took five years and the deaths of 300 peasants to grow.

By the way, it was good to see Miles and Joe Good reunited last Friday night in the Mercy Seat alley. It was beautiful and sunny when I arrived on the premises around 8 p.m., expecting the show to begin any minute. Well. I was forced to stand around and drink free beer for about an hour and a half before Panic and his colleague Mr. Luna took the stage, by which time it was raining like a bastard. For real. They just threw tarps over the PA equipment and let the MCs keep going. Rapping in the rain. Just rapping in the rain…
