Rep. Emanuel Cleaver rips Twilight in letter to colleagues

Rep. Emanuel Cleaver is a scary-film fanatic, but he does not care for the Twilight films. In fact, Politico has a highly amusing story of Cleaver writing letters to his colleagues in the House of Representatives urging bipartisanship, and he uses the epically popular franchise to help make his point.
“As my family and congregation are well aware, I am a monster movie maestro. In fact, I am protesting these new Twilightvampire movies,” he wrote. “They are disgusting. After all, everyone knows that real vampires and real werewolves don’t date the same girl. This is a travesty that must be addressed by the horror scholars of this generation, otherwise millions of young kids will grow to adulthood thinking that Twilight movies are as accurate as Bram Stoker’s Dracula.”
From there, Politico reports, Cleaver shifts to Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein and makes his ultimate point: Congress has created a horrible creature that “needlessly obstructs the goodwill and statesmanship.”
There’s a frog cooking metaphor, too.
