Relax by the glow of the Bannister Federal Complex

Did you know that the Bannister Federal Complex is a Superfund site? The EPA did!

But NBC Action News’ Russ Ptacek reports that few others knew about the site’s Superfund status — including the people who worked there.

According to documents forwarded to The Pitch by environmental watchdogs, the three areas that make up the Bannister Federal Complex — the KC Plant, the Federal Center and the General Services Administration’s offices — were each entered into the EPA’s Superfund database in 1987. The plant, which manufactures non-nuclear parts for nuclear weapons, is currently operated by Honeywell for the U.S. Department of Energy.
