Reggie and the Full Effect

On wax, Reggie and the Full Effect offers a sonic interpretation of attention deficit disorder: The band switches musical gears at whim and works a number of disparate genres — synth-caked Eurocheese, sandblasted Viking metalcore and straight-laced power pop — occasionally within the same tune. Onstage, these musical inside jokes assume new life, buoyed by the unyielding cult-de-personality of frontman James Dewees. Dewees launched his career as Coalesce’s drummer and is best known for his keyboard work in the Get Up Kids, but masterminding Reggie has raised his profile immensely. The ever-evolving Full Effect has been home to scads of local yokels, including members of Ultimate Fakebook, Coalesce and the Get Up Kids (Kids stickman Ryan Pope is currently handling skin-pounding duties), making the band’s area shows a scenester must.
