Phosphorescent’s new release Revelator continues Matthew Houck’s favorite subject matter, “the grand sadness in life.” Houck’s has said that Revelator, in some ways, extends seamlessly from the story begun by his 2013 release, Muchacho and continued by 2018’s C’est La Vie. It finds Houck further mastering his unique blend of ragged, experiment-y classicism intertwined with ethereal, atmospherics which leads us to a place where dreams and reality mingle. Revelator is scheduled to be released April 5, 2024 via Verve Records.
