Records and beer finally become one

Want a way to combine listening to records and drinking good beer that doesn’t make you look like a total wanker? First of all, don’t but the shirt pictured below. I love Vinyl Collective, and Virgil is a super-friendly, super-enthusiastic supporter of both good beer and independent music. This shirt, however, does nothing but make the wearer look like a total twit.

Magic Hat Brewery, out of Burlington, Vermont, has figured out a way to get past all that by simply naming a beer “Vinyl.” Now, music and breweries have combined before (Durango’s Ska Brewing Co., for instance — try their Pinstripe Red Ale), but this beer is pretty nifty. It’s a spring lager, and what says “spring” better than drinking beer and spinning records while you while away the hours?

Now, Magic Hat’s just started making inroads to the area, so while you can find their (by all accounts delicious) #9 at places like the Record Bar and the Velvet Dog, their specialty beers might be a bit difficult to come by. Still — I’m enough of a geek to buy a beer based on the name and the fact that the bottlecap looks like a record.
