Real Haunts

The Taylor Ranch in Oak Grove is haunted. So says Premiere Paranormal Research, a group of local ghost hunters. The last time PPR co-founder Tiffany Black investigated the place, doors slammed by themselves, and digital-recording equipment picked up voices commanding “get back!” and “get out!”This small-scale paranormal research team wants to keep funding its ghost hunts and also wants to help the owners of the Taylor Ranch renovate the old mansion. Thus, Haunted Quest Fest today from 2 p.m. to midnight. Expect music (the Billy Bats and DJ Ataxic, among others), food for sale, raffle tickets (prizes include a plot in Slaughter Cemetery in Blue Springs and a one-night sleepover inside the mansion), and a haunted tour for $3 a person. According to Black, “Nothing will pop out at you on the tour. Or if it does, it’s a real ghost.” Admission costs $5. For an additional $3, visitors are encouraged to bring camping gear and stay on the property overnight. The 21-and-over event is BYOB. The Taylor Ranch is at 40103 East Colbern Road Extension, in Oak Grove, Missouri. See premiereparanormalresearch.org for more information.
