Rat out your neighbors to 3-1-1 if they don’t shovel snow

It’s been one week since our last blizzard, but some property owners and business owners still haven’t cleared their sidewalks of snow. Fact: Shoveling is just the decent thing to do. Even with a bunch of melting yesterday, some sidewalks are still not walkable. (I felt like a sled dog walking through the West 39th Street area Friday night.)
Starting today, Kansas City will (finally) start fining people who have let the snow pile up on their walkways. Granted, the $25-$100 fines probably aren’t severe enough to make some property owners and residents change their annoying ways. But, it’s a start. If you want to rat out our slacker neighbors or business owners, the city asks that you call its 3-1-1 hotline to make a report. You can also send in a complaint through the hotline’s website.
