Randy L. Wilson, Killa City homicide 6: Cousin of homicide victim Nelson Hopkins Jr. fatally shot

Kansas City police say Randy L. Wilson was the victim of a fatal shooting Saturday morning.
Officers arrived at a local hospital around 5:13 a.m. to investigate a shooting. Police say they found the 21-year-old Wilson “and other belligerent and uncooperative people” in the emergency room.
Wilson died from his wounds after arriving at the hospital. Police say Wilson was shot inside a car at the intersection of Linwood and Gillham. The driver of the car told police that “an oncoming car had fired the shots.”
Wilson is Kansas City, Missouri’s fourth homicide victim of the year. He is also reportedly the first cousin of Nelson E. Hopkins Jr., who was gunned down at 54th and Troost on December 1. Hopkins was walking home from the Plaza library. He had a college application in his pocket.
Nelson Hopkins Jr.’s family held a vigil for him and Wilson Sunday evening.
“My son did not die in vain,” Nelson Hopkins Sr. told KSHB channel 41. “Randy Wilson did not die in vain. The other 100 and some odd murders that happened last year wasn’t in vain. We’re going to put this to a stop. This has got to come to an end.”
On Sunday, police said no suspects were in custody in Wilson’s death. If you know anything about Wilson’s death, call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
