Rachel Perez, accused of starving her son, gives birth to another child while in custody

Rachel Perez, accused of locking her 6-year-old son with Down syndrome in an attic and starving him, is no longer a pregnant inmate. KMBC Channel 9 reported this week that Perez recently gave birth to a child.

Last August, the 26-year-old was arrested after her 6-year-old son was

found covered with feces in a hot, filthy, mold-covered attic in De

Soto. The boy was malnourished, and his bones could be seen through his

skin. The boy and Perez’s other children are in the custody of

the state.
