ProcrastinationImmunization

Call it writer’s block, lack of inspiration or just plain lazy-assitude, but the disinclination to finish — or even start — a project strikes most artists at one time or another. The women behind LOCA, or Local Artist Collective (1909 McGee, inside the Bad Seed), understand this malady, which is why they started their group in the first place. “Sometimes it’s easier to get projects done when you’ve got other people working around you,” explains LOCA co-founder Anna Nielsen. “We wanted to create an environment where different clothing, photography, painting and jewelry designers, or any other creative types, could meet and inspire one another.” Tonight, that means finishing something you’ve started. Whether it’s a painting, a sewing project that you’re trying to complete, LOCA welcomes artists of all stripes to attend its first-ever Craft and Potluck Night, from 6 to 9 p.m. No dishes are required, just the desire to meet other artists and finally finish that incomplete work.
