Pranksters earn symbolic victory over Koch brothers

Hey, remember late last year when some overachieving pranksters distributed a press release supposedly from the ultraconservative Koch brothers? In the phony release, the owners of the Wichita-based Koch Industries said they had seen the light regarding environmental issues, and they made the astounding announcement that they were closing their pocketbooks to right-wing outfits like Americans for Prosperity.

The release wasn’t knee-slapping funny (read it after the jump), but the Koch brothers’ reaction was. Charles and David went a little lawsuit crazy. They sued Web-hosting companies in Utah and a pile of John Does for trademark infringement, cybersquatting and unfair competition. They issued subpoenas to find out which dastardly global-warming believers would dare to mock them.
