Pour it Forward: New Brewer’s Corner hosts fundraiser for Open Doors Foundation this weekend
Brewer’s Corner in Midtown is under new ownership, and they’re kicking off the next era of the space by hosting a fundraiser for Open Doors Foundation this weekend.
Open Doors Foundation is a low-barrier-to-entry shelter, currently with 40 beds to serve the greater Kansas City community through referral partners like University Health, the Kansas City Public Library, and more. Its mission is to help people move from crisis to stability, supporting them on their path to safe and independent living, but the low-barrier aspect is what sets them apart. Open Doors Foundation has a simple intake process, prioritizes ID assistance and housing first, and employs harm reduction approaches and non-judgmental support, no matter the circumstance of incarceration, mental health, or substance use.
On August 22 and 23, Brewer’s Corner will host Pour It Forward, a benefit for Open Doors Foundation. The two-evening event features live music from Mitzi McKee & The Precious Cargo, Drew Six, and Nina Cherry, plus local vendors, food trucks, and raffles. Proceeds from ticket sales and raffles benefit Open Door Foundation’s day-to-day operations and its goal to open a cold-weather shelter this winter.
Tickets are $25 and include one drink, with additional beverages and goods available for purchase.
