Potluck and Mac swap at Broken Arrow Park in Lawrence

Every year, the Macintosh User Group in Lawrence gets together for a swap meet + picnic in the park. This year’s event is at Broken Arrow Park, 29th and Louisiana, at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The point, of course, is to bond over the superiority of Apple computers while swigging sweet tea and nomming on potato salad. Plus, Apple users can try unloading some of their old equipment onto other people. “People bring their old software, maybe some add-ons such as zip drives. It’s frequently a nostalgia trip becuase someone will bring an old program and half the people will be like ‘What is that for’ and the other half tells stories about how they first used that program. Last year, someone had a few dial up modems and we talked about those days when people were using AOL on a 14.4 modem,” says group member David Greenbaum.
So, you’re ready to trade out your first-generation iPod. How do you decide what food to bring? Greenbaum offered the following breakdown for guidance:
Leopard Users: Main dish
Tiger users: Side dish
Panther: Dessert
Running more than one: Your choice
Not running one of these: Save your money and bring a drink (and then
upgrade)
