When a good chunk of the money is blown and the sparkling wine is gone, a new party for the New Year will just be springing up. After the ball drops, Jardine’s (4536 Main, 816-561-6480) showcases Kansas City Afro-Latin-soul ensemble Luz D’Sol. Led by Pablo Sanhueza (of local 10-piece Makuza), Luz D’Sol is made up of players from Chile, Colombia and Mexico. The group delivers sounds that blend jazz, Afro-Cuban and neo-soul. Think carnival music, slow jams, sexually charged rumba beats and Erykah Badu all mixed together. Debuting with the band and adding vocals will be Mocha Jackson, a KC native and community activist. The cherry on the cake? There is no cover. The party goes from 12:30 to 2:45 a.m. For more on the band, e-mail email@example.com.
