Pose Outdoors
Given that hot, or bikram, yoga classes take place in sweltering 105-degree, 50-percent-humidity conditions, it’s safe to say that plenty of people out there never make it to the studio. It takes true endurance to make it through a hot yoga session of held poses and projectile sweat. But kiss that extreme heat goodbye at today’s bikram session in the breezy outdoors of Mill Creek Park (50 West 47th Street). Yoga Fix invites new and experienced yogis to Yoga in the Park for a Healthy Heart, a benefit for the American Heart Association. Whether you’re testing the waters or want to learn about hot yoga’s cardiovascular benefits, rest assured that the temperature probably won’t reach 105 degrees. We can’t say the same about the humidity — 50 percent sounds about right for the fourth of August. Registration is at 9:15 a.m., and the class begins at 10.
