Write what you know, goes the adage, and it’s what most writers end up doing. Politics is a subject in which playwright Beau Willimon is well-versed. He worked on campaigns for Sens. Charles Schumer, Hillary Clinton and Bill Bradley and Gov. Howard Dean. No doubt, the personalities and situations that Willimon encountered filter into his play Farragut North. The show, now onstage at the Unicorn Theatre (3828 Main), concerns a successful young press secretary and a host of predictably amoral Capitol Hill types. The Unicorn is presenting the play in partnership with the UMKC Theatre Department, meaning the cast and crew are a mix of graduate students and professionals. Farragut North opened Friday. Performances run through December 13. Today’s matinee begins at 3 p.m. See unicorntheatre.org or call the box office at 816-531-7529 for more information.
