Citizens of Poland suffered a grave loss last month when President Lech Kaczynski and dozens of other dignitaries died in a plane crash. The tragedy struck at the hearts of many Americans, including those organizing the 26th-Annual Polski Day festivities at All Saints Church (801 Vermont in Kansas City, Kansas). The event’s parade, pierogi and polkas commemorate the May 3, 1791, signing of the Polish constitution and celebrate the hardy spirit of the Polish people. Activities begin with a parade, which takes off at 11 a.m. from 18th and Central streets and continues to the church, where Polish sounds and traditional foods reign until 7 p.m. The fallen Polish Parliament will be remembered in a special 4 p.m. mass.
